Wednesday we ran her numbers, they are low, but not low enough for a transfusion, yet. Because the flu is going around everywhere we decided to keep Madi home, a cold or flu to her means a stay at Hotel D. In addition on Wednesday we got her PICC bandage changed.. only 2 more changes. The darn thing wasn't drawing again... I said a silent prayer, "God please keep it working for two more weeks". After the change it still wasn't working so they brought in the meds to "flush" it out (think Drano)... as Lily the nurse was going to put it in the PICC line started to work. I remembered to instantly thank God for answering my prayer so quickly Madi slept all the way home and until about 8:00. Of course then she woke up hungry and ready to go. Sigh...
Thursday and Friday were grading and prep days for me so I brought Madi to work with me. She loves hanging out in my classroom... she set up all her things while I graded and planned. She helped deliver things to the teachers and we were at least out of the house. (No students there :)) She ALWAYS has that adorable smile on her face and love that people get to see how strong she really is.
Friday we got some groceries at Trader Joes... as we left a lady said to Madi, "Hello Gorgeous!"... When we got in the car I told Madi that she was such an inspiration to others without even trying. She asked why and I explained that her spirit and strength shine through in her eyes and her smile!!!!
I again struggle with keeping her home being the right thing... Tom and I talked and agreed there is not really such thing as being too cautious right now.
The girls went to Tom's on Friday. Jason and I got some much needed time to ourselves to rest and talk. I am so thankful for him, he is truly my best friend. I also got a chance to get to my grading... grades are due on Monday, I still have math and health to go, but I have been able to get a lot done.
We are almost done with phase 2... (Phase 1 - The News, Phase 2 - Chemo, Phase 3 - MRI and rest, Phase 4- Radiation, Phase 5 - MRI and CELEBRATE!!!)... There is still so much fear and "what if's" that try to sneak into my mind... forget that... Madi's got this!
